Interview With Fitness Model:

Jennifer Rankin

How and when did you start training?

I was a competitive athlete all throughout college, but did not start bodybuilding and competing until 2008. I had always looked up to the bodybuilding men and women, but didn't seriously think I could do it until my friend and workout partner encouraged me.

In regards to weight training, can you give us an
overview of a typical week?

I weight train 5 days a week.

  • Day 1:
Legs - 3 X 12-20 (Superset most exercises) DB Squats, straight leg dead lifts, walking lunges, leg press, plie' squats, lying leg curls, leg extensions
  • Day 2 -Upper Body Circuit 3 X 12-15 (Giant Sets) Back, Shoulders, Bi's & Tri's
  • Day 3 - Plyo's, lunges, squats, sprints
  • Day 4 - Upper Body Circuit - Giant set back and shoulders, 1 set high reps - pulldowns, shoulder press, tricep pushdowns, bicep curls
  • Day 5 - Legs & Plyo's

How much and what types
of cardio do you do?

I teach a high intensity Spin Class 2X per week and use the treadmill, arc trainer etc the other 3 days. I get bored with cardio, so I always try to change it up with HIIT, incline, mileage goal, time goal, etc

What are the contents of your fridge?

My fridge is always stocked with lean protein (chicken breast, lean beef, ground turkey), salad, fresh & frozen veggies, eggs, berries (To my husband it always looks "empty") lol

What is your favourite
healthy food?

My favourite healthy food is eggs. I love eggs for breakfast, lunch or dinner and can cook them in so many different ways. They are clean, full of protein and quick and easy to cook.

Favorite cheat food?

Pizza, lasagne, cereal, chocolate

Who are your favourite figure competitors,
athletes or fitness models?

Monica Brant, Jessica Putnam, Erin Stern, Alicia Harris, Amanda Latona, Jamie Eason, Stacey Oster-Thompson, Alicia Marie

What is your best body part?

I hate this question! Lol But, I'd probably say my back or arms. I have to work really hard on bringing my glutes up, but keep my arms from getting too big for bikini!

…And your best bodypart in a man?

Shoulders and chest are definitely my favourite parts! Abs don’t hurt either! ;)

What is the number one philosophy you live by?

Dream big and don't stop until its yours!

What 3 tips would you give to any woman
wanting to get a feminine, CutAndJacked
physique like yours?

  1. Nutrition is THE most important part. Eat clean and use proper supplementation!
  2. Be prepared! Pre- cook if you have to, pre plan your workouts in your calendar, keep an extra set of workout gear in your car, etc. The better you are prepared...the better your results!
  3. Be consistent! You can’t get CutAndJacked working out "when you feel like it". You have to be consistent day in and day out with your training, diet, supplements, and rest.

....(p.s. Don't be afraid to lift heavy, be explosive, sweat or growl! Be pretty on stage and in your photo-shoots...the gym is the time to look like a mess and get the work done. If you are wearing your hair down in the gym you’re more than likely NOT getting the most from your workouts! ;)
