How and when did you start training?

I started training in 2005 where I was given a gym membership as a Christmas present from a family friend.  For the first year or so I was mainly doing kickboxing as it was one of the classes that ran at my gym and felt intimidated going into the weights area.

What mistakes did you make as a newbie?

Finally after training with weights as a newbie I did what most people do which was train what I saw. I would remember going into the gym every day and training my upper body.

We know consistency is key, what tips would you give to
anyone struggling to stay consistent?

Yes, I am a strong believer in being consistent and at times it may be hard to keep focus we all know this. Having a like-minded training partner who's goals are similar helps big time, also what I tend to do every few months is take NO MORE than a week off weights/training and rest. I believe it helps re-charge the hunger you have for training and you return fresh and hungry for progression.

Do you listen to music whilst training?

YES music is a big part of my session. It's what drives me further and gets me pumped. I have a mix of genre ranging from Reggae, Soca, House, Soulful House Rap/Hiphop and I'm now getting into the Motivational Speeches.

What do you think about when you have to dig deep
and push out that last rep?

I think to myself if I don't do it my competition will, so I have to be better and stronger. I think of the pain as love, and they do say love hurts so I want to walk out that gym everyday with pain.

How far ahead do you plan and prepare ahead your nutrition
and training if at all?

I usually prepare my meals no more than 2 days ahead as I like it as fresh as possible to capture the most nutrition and it makes it easier to balance day to day life.

Training wise I prepare a week ahead, I always look back at the previous week and try to hit the muscles from a different angle.

What are you most proud of?

My proudest moment to date was winning a physique competition and also being recognised in my birth country by being featured in one of the country's most popular magazine and TV station.

Do you bulk and cut or stay lean year round?

I try to stay lean year round and gain as much muscle at the same time, give or take a few weeks where I would relax from dieting but I'm always about 4 weeks out from being competition ready.

What types of cardio do you do?

I mainly stick to the treadmill and cross-trainer but sometimes mess around with HIIT and Intervals.

What is you're training routine like?

I train 5-6 days a week.

  • Monday - Quads and Calves
  • Tuesday - Chest And Tri
  • Wednesday - Back and Biceps
  • Thursday - Shoulders and light calves
  • Friday -  Hamstrings and Calves
  • Saturday - Superset Quads and Hamstrings calves

My rep range is usually between 8-12 depending on weight and what I'm trying to achieve. Sometimes I play about with the last set and do triple dropsets to exhaust the muscle.

What is your diet when trying to get in peak condition?

I keep it very simple, at the end of the day it's about giving your body what it needs nothing else. Mainly chicken breast and white fillet fish for protein and white rice and sweet potato for carbs and I try to keep my fats level medium.

Who are your favourite athletes, bodybuilders or fitness models?

I don't have a favourite but I tend to keep a close watch on the guys that are doing it at the moment such as Ulisses JNR and Simeon Panda.

What supplements do you use if any?

I've never really been a big fan of protein shakes I tend to buy a tub and it would last about 4 months as I only use it when I can't get the meals in on time.  I occasionally take BCAA and Creatine.

What top 3 tips would you give to anyone wanting
to get CutAndJacked?

  1. Always plan ahead.
  2. Be consistent and don't be one of those guys that talks more than they train at the gym.
  3. Surround yourself with like minded and humble people. I hate arrogance.
