How and when did you start training?

I always enjoyed physical activity, as a child I was incredibly hyper and always moving. I learned a little about lifting in gym class in high school (it was my favorite thing), but it wasn't until I turned 20 and met my future Husband that I really got serious about lifting. He had already been lifting for a few years, and started showing me how to lift correctly and split up my body groups when lifting. He showed me what a healthy diet looked like, and with his support I overcame my eating disorders.

How long do you spend in the gym
during a typical workout?

It depends on what time of year it is! Haha! Leading up to and during contest season I spend ALOT of time in the gym! I lift weights, perform cardio, and practice my posing. I have a few clients I train there also, all competitors. I also just love hanging out at Gold's Gym New Haven, where my coach Jerry Montanari is one of the owners. Along with Jerry, there are so many competitors and friends to support me and keep me in the right state of mind!
In the off-season, when I'm not competing, I just lift and train clients.

What’s the best aspect of being an IFBB pro?

I would have to say the best aspect of being an IFBB Pro is being able to stand on stage with the most amazing physiques in the Universe! I appreciate each and every division of the IFBB, and I am proud to stand among them.
I am also so happy that as a Pro, I am able to reach and inspire a larger audience with the hardships I have gotten through to get to where I am now. I would say my best pieces of advice would be, never give up, reach for the stars, and to never regret ANYTHING!

How do you manage to stay motivated?

I stay motivated in a few different ways, I love looking at fitness mags! I love new exercises, new workout tips, and seeing the fitness models in amazing shape makes me push harder!
New playlists and new music ALWAYS gets me going!!!!!! I listen to basically everything except for jazz and classical. My music is directly related to my mood that day!
New gym clothes! Nothing is better!!! I'm not sure why, but new clothes are motivation magic! For guys who ask me how to get their girlfriend/wife in the gym, that’s my #1 tip!

What is your training routine like?

  • wide pulldowns
  • cable rows
  • close pulldowns
  • double, then single arm machine rows
  • assisted pullups
  • Legs/calves
  • leg extensions
  • leg press
  • Romanian deadlifts
  • leg curls
  • inner/outer thigh

  • flat bench
  • lying pec fly machine
  • incline dumbbell press
  • pec fly machine
  • seated machine press

Arms (tris/bis)

  • cable tricep extension w/rope

  • alt dumbbell curls
  • barbell drag curls
  • cable curls

  • dumbbell side raises

I do abs every other day.

  • reverse crunches and "twisters" (hits your obliques, just reverse crunch version for sides)
  • weighted abs on Swiss ball 10lbs 4x15
  • hanging abs 4x10-15 (front and sides)

Cardio I do 3x for 20-30 mins on the treadmill at a high incline in the off-season.

What does your diet consist of?

I found out the end of last year that I was Wheat/Gluten intolerant, and I had been diagnosed with lactose Intolerance since I was a baby, this makes my diet a bit more complicated. I had to remove foods in my diet such as fiber one cereal, whole wheat bread, wheat pasta, and I have to be very careful of cross contaminates such as foods processed in the same facility as wheat, oats, barley etc... I read labels EVEN more carefully than I ever have before!! (I didn't know it was possible! Haha)

Right now this is my diet:(pretty boring, I could eat the same thing everyday, if I vary too much I get of track)

  • Eggs, turkey bacon, fruit
  • 6 oz Chicken & onions, 1/2 cup brown rice pasta x3
  • 6 oz turkey and a baked potato

I also really like Pepper steak & onions, Lemon chicken, spicy chicken salad, egg salad, & Taco chicken bean chili. I am always trying to come up with new recipes. I put some of my recipes on my website!

How do you deal with cravings for junk foods, sweets and salty food?

Some of my tips for dealing with cravings are sugar free ice-pops, & Diet coke (I know, not good, but better than cheating!)  If I have a really bad craving and I can't have anything else I drink a TON of water! It will make me full and curb my cravings!

Who are your favourite figure competitors, athletes or fitness models?

I would have to say some of my fave competitors are:
Eva Cowan
Trish Warren
Jay Cutler
Branch Warren
Evan Centopani
Triple H
...and so many more! I am a bodybuilding, figure, fitness, bikini, and wrestling fan!

What are your top three exercises and why?

My top 3 FAVE exercises I like to perform are:

  1. Leg press - I once leg pressed 700lbs!!!!! I am very proud of that PR, and I hope to be able to exceed it in the future!
  2. Bench press - My PR in the bench is 175lbs! If you couldn't tell, I LOVE to lift heavy!!
  3. Pec Fly machine - I don't know why I am in love with this one, but I can't wait to do it! It's usually the first exercise I do on chest day!

What is your best body part?

I would have to say my best body part is my butt! lol! I work it to death to make sure it is 100% ready when the time comes to walk on stage! I never really had a butt till I started working out, I knew it had changed a lot when even my mom commented on it, "Look at your BUTT!!!" Hahahaha!

What 3 tips would you give to any woman wanting to get a feminine, CutandJacked physique like yours?

  1. Watch what you put in your mouth. Eat a healthy balanced diet, with small meals throughout the day. Starving yourself through out the day and only eating/drinking at night, will NOT give you the look you want. There are no shortcuts!
  2. Get a trainer, or a kick ass routine you will ENJOY! You wont stick to something you don't enjoy! Lift weights!!! Don't be afraid of building some sexy muscle! You will look amazing, AND the health benefits are endless, delay aging as much as you can! hahaha!
  3. Do your cardio! It is an important factor to getting in shape! Not only does it help you shed the pounds, but it also helps keep your heart healthy!!!!!!!!!!

What is the number one philosophy you live by?

Never give up, reach for the stars, and to never regret ANYTHING!!!
Happy training!
Tabi xoxo ;)
